Horseback Riding in Chile: Horseback
Riding from the Lodge
PatagoniaChile
From
the village of Futaleufu, we take off on daily
trips that allow you to live during the day in
a time forgotten, but at night you can return
to all the comforts of our Futaleufu Lodge.
At
our lodge you
can adjust the frequency and length of your
riding to suit your own tastes. Our lodge
based equestrian vacations are ideal for those
individuals with limited experience on horseback
and is also the perfect place to learn good
riding technique. Our guides are always available
to teach beginners and we can even schedule
beginner week horseback riding vacations should
you so desire.
The lodge also has plenty to offer the more
experienced equestrian rider. From the comforts
of our weather proof lodge you can set out
each day to explore a new part of this incredible
Patagonia countryside. All of our horseback
rides vary in terrain and skill level. Those
along the valley floor offer the opportunity
to gallop and trot and those higher up in
the Andes mountains will test your horsemanship
and handling skills.

pristine Rio Espolon, crossing small wood

out of Lago Espolon into the valley below.
This tempest is called “La Garganta
del Diablo” and it is truly a sight
to behold.
Day 4: Horseback Ride
to the Rio Chico
This
ride takes us upstream to a charming valley
that is habitat for the endangered Huemul

by rivulets and lace-like waterfalls into
the National Reserve of the Huemul.
Day 5: Escalas Valley
Circuit Today,
our ride will take you along the Infierno
Gorge, a black rock canyon of the Futaleufu

below. You can easily imagine the tectonic
activity that formed this area 70 million
years ago. The trail enters the open Las Escalas

it on a wood and cable swinging bridge and
ride through an old growth forest of Coigue
trees up out of the valley and around a small
lake back to the village of Futaleufu.

fiesta and remember all the sights and adventures
we had on our trip.

to Chaiten, Chile and your flight to Puerto
Montt, or relax for a couple of hours and
take our shuttle to Esquel, Argentina. As
