Trip Reservation Process

OVERVIEW: The following is a summary of the steps needed to sign up for a trip with Expediciones Chile. Please make sure that each step is completed.

1] Call the Expediciones Chile office and discuss the available trip options and schedules. (1.888.488.9082 Toll Free)

2] Find a plane flight(s) to Puerto Montt, Chile, Esquel, Argentina or Punta Arenas, Chile that corresponds to the trip schedule. This should be done in accordance with the travel schedule requirements outlined on the Expediciones Chile website. See: Travel Information You can obtain an airfare quote from our prefered ExChile Travel Agent or get a quote from your own.

  • For some itineraries it will be necessary to spend an overnight in Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Puerto Montt, Punta Arenas, San Carlos de Bariloche, or Esquel before resuming your journey. The following web page contains our list of suggested hotels and lodges in Chile & Argentina. These can be directly booked over the internet. See: Hotels & Lodging Options
  • Trips to Torres del Paine & Los Glaciares National Parks require internationally recognized medical insurance. Trip cancellation insurance is also an option you may wish to consider to safeguard your trip investment. Both types of insurance can be purchased directly & inexpensively over the Expediciones Chile website. See: Travel & Health Insurance
  • Keep in mind that deviations from the Saturday to Saturday schedule may require that you take public transportation to Futaleufu or have us arrange for a private shuttle for your group that may involve additional cost. This can also happen if you arrive late to Punta Arenas for trips in Torres del Paine National Park.

3] Once your plane tickets are reserved (or booked), you are ready to reserve your trip with Expediciones Chile. To reserve your trip you will need to go through our real time online reservation system. Find the trip that you want to book and click on the "book this trip" button. (If you are on a specialized or custom trip you will need to call our office.) If the trip date starts within 90 days you will be required to pay the full balance upon booking the trip; if your trip is 90 or more days off we will charge you a deposit. If you are uneasy about using our Online Payment Form you can call the office to submit your credit card and other personal information. We also accept checks provided they arrive 30 days before your trip starts. Please review our Payment & Cancellation Policy before booking.

4] Now that your trip is reserved and paid for Expediciones Chile will need more information from you, some of which is critical for your trip. Please use the Reservation Code and Password sent to you in your confirmation email to log-in to our secure: Guest Information Area. To complete your trip application you will need to reference your passport, flight itinerary and possibly your travel insurance policy. It is vital that our operations and logistics people (as well as your guides) receive this information; your trip reservation will not be considered complete unless we have it.

4b] If you wish you may also fill-out all of the required forms by hand and fax, e-mail, or post them to our US office in Sun Valley, Idaho.

5] You are now ready to begin packing for your trip. See our web page for a complete Packing List needed for your trip. Please look at the list carefully and adhere much as possible to what is written. Meeting the weight restrictions of the charter flight will be most important.

6] Finally please take the time to review the Pre Trip Information and frequently asked questions sections. Here you will find information about: traveling in Chile, passport and visa issues, immunizations, medical questions, currency conversion and more.
